Drop Everything and------Read!
This is probably too late to mention in my blog, but yesterday at Applied Skills, we had the Drop Everything and Read activity 20 minutes before the end of the class. Drop Everything and Read------that means when the announcement goes on, you have to put down your pen or whatever stuff you are working on, pick up a book, and start reading. Luckily I brought a novel so I wouldn't be doing nothing during the reading time(It would be a little embarrassing, don't you think?). I think this is a very good activity, and there are certain ways to extend it. For example, we could encourage people in our school to read daily by starting up a reading club. The Independent Reading Program is probably a good suggestion as well, because it's a list filled with wonderful books for you to read and discover. Our English class is already doing the Independent Reading Program, so this is not new. You know, maybe we should have 20 minutes reserved at the end of each Applied Skills class for reading time. Reading is definitely a good thing. It gives you knowledge and creativity, and it also teaches us how to view the world around us and let our imagination flow.
