Lolz My Eyesight

I just had my eyesight checkup this morning and guess what: I've worsened by like 10%... :/ Lolz. So on the sheet is says like -4.00 or something like that. Okay, the funny thing at the beginning is that when the checkup lady tested my eyes on this weird machine, the little hole on the machine shot air right into my left eye. I was like owwww. She went on checking my right eye but I couldn't open my eyes wide because my brain was telling me to avoid the air shooting thing. Natural instinct I guess...Hahhahahaha. It took me a while to open my eyes properly and I think at the end the lady got a bit annoyed. Lolz.

Sigh.

Today was not a really exciting day. First there was the socials test, which I found a bit confusing and sorta hard-ish. I hope I did okay... :/ Anyways for applied skill me and Celinna made a felt mushroom, but we still have to stuff it (we ran out of stuffing). I also started on a blue fish. For math we had a practice test, which I did okay, and Ms. Knott just gave us completion marks. For French we did our presentation and it went okay I guess. I was really frustrated when I got my quiz back and I got half a mark off because of my carelessness. I spelled tross instead of trouss. ://////////// It's just so weird. Yesterday I was still having such a great day, and all of a sudden today became kinda rotten.

Oh So Happy

I am soooo happy today! In the morning my dad left the computer on so I went and checked my email to see if Mr. Hauck had sent us the UBC debate tournament candidate results. I GOT INTO THE JUNIOR TEAM!!! Yayayayyayayaaya. This is like, my first big debate tournament of the year, so I am really excited for it. We also did our 6 laps today and I got a time of 13:38. I improved from last year (last year I got like 15:48ish). I am so happy. Vivian C. was my running buddy so we got the same time. Neither of us walked during the whole thing so we are also gonna get a bonus. Hhehehehehehe.

For English we had Alex's group doing their teaching presentation. I really really liked the trailer which they made using minecraft characters. It's got a spooky music, and the scream at the end was just so funny. Hhahahahha.

For science we had lab. After school we did recycling club. We had a lesser load as compared to last week. A few more people joined, and we were really synergizing, which was good. I got to go up the attic in Mr. Olson's room everytime to put away the trays or to pass down gloves and such. It was a good day, although I smell a bit like the recycled items. I have to take a shower now. Bye!

Debate Club UBC Tournament Tryout

Today for debate club we did tryouts for the UBC Tournament. I was trying out for the junior team (grade 8-10). There were a lot of people trying out for the junior team...but Mr. Hauck can only take 8 people. So he gave us a topic about the legalization of polygamy and we were supposed to list all the pros and cons of the issue. At the end Mr. Hauck chose the top 10 people, and I was one of them!!! Yayyyyy~~~ so happy. But still, he could only take 8 people, so we had a mini debate tournament. I think I did fine. We don't know the results yet, because he's gonna send it to us. I hope I get in. It would really mean a lot to me if I can participate in the UBC tournament! :P

It's Raining, It's Pouring

The weather has been super bad all day! Geez, the rain just never stops! I walk home daily so today I was a bit wet and kinda cold-ish. The rain also makes me wanna sleep, because of the damp and cold feelings. But oh, I still have some work to do! Must do my best not to fall asleep!

Okay, enough complaints about the rain...Let's talk about my day. For PE we had a sub, and we just did the usuals----weight room, skipping, etc. We couldn't run outside because of the rain, so we just ran around the benches indoor. Photography we had another sub, and we watched this really cool video about the human eyes. I know some of the scientific stuff from last year. The special effects in the video are just amazing! Well, maybe the part where human transforms into a skeleton thingy wasn't soooo pretty. :P

For English Leslie's group did their teaching presentation and it was pretty good. The story Alicia was so sad...I've read it before, but it's still sad. For science we had another presentation, and our group did our experiment report on the relationship between the consumption of dairy products and the amount of fat excreted....cool isn't it?

Photography Fail

I found out on Friday that for the portrait and landscape project we were suppose to take pictures of the same subject in two ways. Some of my pictures are either just landscape or portrait. Oh gosh. I need 20 pairs. I think I can take some pics perhaps this afternoon or tomorrow. I am sooo busy today because I have to tutor again this afternoon for two hours, and I already had an hour in the morning. Sigh~~~~

Better Teaching

So I went and tutored my student again. This time, I invited her mom to join us, which she agreed. The lesson was extended to two hours instead of one. The little girl did great today, partly because her mom was by her side and was supervising her. I helped her memorized three songs for her upcoming competition in November. Everything went better than expected, and at the end I rewarded her a smiley face sticker for doing a good job. I also told her if she collects 15 smiley face stickers she can get a little surprise (gift). Wow, I think I am getting better and better at tutoring! This is such an awesome job.

Crocheting a....HAT?

Today I crocheted with some white yarn. As I crocheted more and more the circle started to curve and eventually formed a tiny hat. I was like o.o so I crocheted more and more until it was like a mushroom cap. Lolz. I bet I can make a carrot stuffy if I crochet with some orange yarn. Lololololol. Now that's a nice idea.:P

Or I can make a mushroom cap with a tiny mushroom stem. Will that sell?

Fitness Test & Volleyball Score Keeper!

Today for PE we had the fitness test! I wasn't really prepared...well, you can't really prepare for a fitness test except through a long-term practice right? I thought I was totally outta shape from the entire summer. But it turned out well, and I acutally improved some! My height is now 167cm ( I've grown 2 cm! My height from grade 8 term 3 was 165 cm) Haahahahha yesss. I did push-ups and got like 15. Not bad. Last year my best was only like 7ish. Then I did sit & reach. Also improved from last year. 7. ( it was a pretty good result, coming out from someone with almost 0-flexibility) Vivian did like 14 and I was like OMG. For crunches I did 30! Big improvement for moi. Then for the shuttle run I did 11.9 seconds (last year was like 13.something). Gahahahhahaha. So much win. Still haven't done the 50m dash yet. I hope I can still improve!

Anyways, afterschool me, Celinna and Leslie went to the main gym for the volleyball score keeper training session. I can't play on a volleyball team, but I still wanna get involved in the school's atheletic program, so I decided to give volleyball score keeper a shot. Ms. B taught us how to record each player's scores and we went to the senior girl's practice to practice our score keeping. It was really fun watching them play, and some of them are really good players. Anyways, it's been a busy day. :P

Recycling Club

This afternoon me, Celinna and Leslie joined the recycling club! This is like the second club I've joined in Churchill. Anyways, I rushed to Celinna's locker right after French to make sure that she didn't forget to stay. Turned out she just came out from PE. Hahahahah. We hurried to Ms. Fowler's room and expected that she would be there (cuz she's like the one who funds and supports the recycling club), but she wasn't, so we went to the cafeteria because a girl said she would be there. She wasn't there, so I was getting a bit nervous. Luckily some of my friends were there too, and they said that Ms. Fowler would come back because she was just going away to get some containers for the recycling stuff. When she came back she told us to go to Mr. Olson's room to put on some gloves. I was really really excited :p

After all the recycling bin had been brought in, we started sorting things out. The plastic bottles had to be put in a container; the juice boxes had to be put in another container, and so on...some of the bottles/cans/juice boxes still had liquid in them, so we had to pour that out in a big bin. It started to smell really stinky and sour as we poured more and more spoiled liquid into the bin. I was being so careful not to get splashed or anything, because that would be bad. Heheheh. When we finished sorting things out, we dumped them by categories into huge garbage bags and carried them into this garage thing right beside Mr. Olson's room.

There were a lot of people helping out with the recycling. Although we had a huge load of recyclable stuff, we still had no problem sorting them out and get them recycled. We all worked super fast under perfect cooperation----that's what I call SYNERGY!

Now that I've formally signed up for recycling club, I'm gonna come out every Wednesday with my friends to do some recycling!

I Don't....Get It

So today I ran for the debate club's secretary and internal vice president. I didn't get the positions, but it was a very good practice, and I also learned some valuable lessons. I was a little bit pissed off at some of the results of the election though. I had no trouble with me losing, because the guy who won the secretary position was very nice, and his speech was very creative "the perfect hands that shall write down everything". Sharon won the internal vice president, and she had many supporters from the previous Synergy 9 class, which is pre-IB right now. But at the beginning we had the grade 8 rep first. I had my eye on this kid name Ramie (I am not sure how to spell her name). I thought her speech was wholesome, and she was being really really sincere about this job. I voted for her, but unfortunately she didn't win the position. Another girl named Tiffany won the position because she said "I make awesome sandwiches so vote for me" that was it. To be honest with you I don't really think she cared about this job...she wasn't really serious about it. But I guess she was sorta like the popularity queen there, so a lot of people voted for her. I didn't think that was fair. I wanted someone who is actually sincere about this job.

Anyways, some people won the position because of their popularity. A lot of the voters didn't care about the speeches...they just voted for popularity. For external vice president this girl named Jessica won the position and I think she deserves it, because her speech was really good, and she definitely has a lot of experience (I saw her from last year. She's probably in grade 12 now). For president, Gavin from Pre-IB and Demi from grade 12 both won the position. Their speeches were good too.

I think everyone is a winner in this election. I've also learned a lot about some candidates. I really appreciate a number of them because I can tell from their sincerity. That's what really matters to me. Sincerity.

Next year I will definitely come out again and run for positions. By then I'll obviously have more experience and more supporters. This is good.

I am KNITTING, KNITTING

So for applied skills today I knitted stuff as usual. My employees have already made several small items from yarn. Them made this white decoration thingy which I mistook for a jellyfish, but it's actually like a flower. I also learned how to do a multi-color knit from Leslie (she also taught me how to crochet from last class) :P even though I screwed up the knit and lost the stitches a few times, it was still so fun. We are gonna make a pencil case with it. Celinna and Leslie are also making this fluffy pillow thingy. I think the crowds are gonna love our product. :P

Btw, my knitting got interrupted because of the photo day thing. I had to go to the cafeteria for my photo, and geez the line was soooo long. I waited and waited until it was finally my turn. When I returned to Mr. Olson's room Austin almost locked me out. So basically a few people stayed, and Tony, Austina and Josh were singing this epicly weird song about... you know what, I am not even gonna tell you what they were singing about-.-

Mapping

This morning I wanted to get my map project done. I've already gotten all the labels down in pencil, so I just fine lined them with blue ink. But right after my fine lining I felt kinda scared about using blue ink, so I went on google chat and ask a few people and they all replied that perhaps black is a better choice, so I just re-fine lined the whole thing. We are suppose to show the elevations by using different colors. I don't have an atlas so I went online and searched for Europe's physical map. I just colored and colored but I had to go at 11:00. I came back at 1:00 and ate my lunch and played piano so by the time I got back to my map it was already 6 something in the evening. My mom insisted on me going for a run with my dad as my daily exercise...so I went out again...

I just finished most of my map. I just need all the latitudes and longtitudes. My original plan got a little bit mixed up... :P

The Challenge

So this morning I went over to my "student"'s house for her piano tutoring. She was not really in a good mood, considering she had to practice piano so early in the morning (at 8:30 am). Anyway, I told her to practice the scales first. She replied "I DON'T KNOW HOW TO PLAY IT." But I knew she was just saying it because she didn't want to play it. As the strict tutor, I insisted on playing the scale. But she was like "IDONTKNOWIDONTKNOW" So I was like, "Okay, fine then, I will TEACH YOU HAND BY HAND" She thought about it for a sec, then gave up and played the scale.

We moved onto the next piece of music. It was a rather large piece for her level. At the beginning she played it nicely, but got stuck in the middle. THAT PART was like the main difficulty of the piece. She got kinda irritated and wanted to skip that part, but I was being so serious and stern I made her play it. She pulled out that IDONTKNOWHOWTOPLAYTHIS saying so I told her that if she doesn't know how to play it I shall teach her hand by hand note by note so she had to follow the rules. The hour went by pretty fast and there were a lot of struggle and irritation...the last minute her mom came in and the girl was quiet and played the piece as I wished. Afterward I told her mom to come in next class and stay with us for the tutoring. She agreed, and said that it's nice to have a strict teacher (because a lot of Chinese parents love strict teachers).

That was a big accomplishment, you know, getting her mom to stay with us for the next lesson next Saturday. My strictness can only have the best effect if the mother is with us so that the little girl would behave. I remember when I was 6 I had a very strict teacher and my mom stayed by my side EVERY class. It's weird: my mom doesn't know how to play the piano, but she makes a great critic. When I was a bit older I got a tutor who was also verrrrry strict. One class was not enough for one single piece of music, because she was so strict she made me play every note with extra care and understanding. Now that I think of it, I am really thankful for these two strict teacher and tutor of mine. I kinda want to test their teacher method out on the little girl, because it worked for me. But who knows...maybe it will not work on her as good as I expect it will be. I still have so much to learn...

Photography Class

So for photography today we got to get out of the classroom and take pictures of people's faces. Actually, 20 faces. I think I took more than 20...Anyway, some people don't really care about people taking pictures of them, but some were really sensitive. A lot of people saw us coming and they either covered up their faces or walked away really really fast. Me, Alex and Tony went around the school and hunted for faces. Hhahahahah. When we went out of the school there were people running laps and I was able to get a few shots of they as they ran past by. Claire was really fast so I wasn't able to take a picture of her face..but oh well. I am gonna do more work on my google site and hopefully upload all the pictures during the weekend.

So Tired...

This afternoon I feel so tired. Celinna and I walked to 49th Canada Line Station right after school for our company material investigation. I am not gonna post any details here...since it's a secret :) Anyway we were tight on time, since Celinna has to get home at 5:30, so we just did everything incredibly fast and came back. I bought two slices of pizza (one green spinach chicken and one cheese burger) and Celinna ate some too and they taste pretty good. I feel so full now because Celinna only ate a little bit and I had two slices of pizza all to myself. Geez. Sometimes I eat my food too fast. Not good for digestion...

Running for Debate Club Internal Vice President and Secretary

Well, the title basically says it all-----I am running for the debate club's internal vice president and secretary! The speech is next week. I am excited alright. I would be soooo thrilled if I can get on those positions! I also took Celinna with me to the debate club for our first meeting, and nominated her for secretary. I have to prepare two 30-second speeches for the election. This is like my first "political" involvement in Churchill...I think I am gonna do a good job and get as many votes as I can!

I am also thinking about joining the floor/field hockey team, whatever they call it. I like field hockey a lot, and I think it's time for me to join a sports team. Again, I am probably gonna take Celinna as my club buddy. Hehhehehe. :D

First Normal Day 2

Today's the first normal day 2. I had PE first thing in the morning, and we ran three laps as usual. I got faster and didn't stop for the whole thing! Yayayy. But then we had weight room, and it's not exactly my type of PE subjects. It's basically workout and repetition, very not interesting. I LOVED baseball and track 'n' field last year. We did them last term (grade 8 term 3) and I got an A for that. Anyways, we didn't get our sheets yet, since this is the first formal day, we just tried out different machines.

Second period there was an assembly. I brought my camera to Photography class, the class we were suppose to have for second period. The assembly lasted for like an hour I guess? Anyway when we got back to our classes there was only like 10 or 15 minutes left so Mr. Olson just talked about a list of things we need to check for our camera.

I ate lunch with Vivian Chew, Cythia and Alex----the Munchkin team. I was the tallest...-.- so a giant munchkin?

English was awesome. We had to write this 6-word story and two words were already given from the start: FOR SALE. Then we wrote stories from pictures and our team made this story about a bomb.

For science, it was a bit intense. Ms. Jay went over the rules and such, and we were suppose to make our chosen safety rules into a play or script or whatever. Ours was...well, fine, but just not as hilarious and entertaining as some other people's. I was a bit worried. Other than that everything just went fine.

WUT?

Just read someone else's blog and the stuff about their company. Apparently they are not making products out of the knitting device thingy...whatever you call it. OMG is that really true? We can like make WHATEVER WE WANT and sell them? I really do hope so, because making products with yarn is pretty limited...oh and Mr. Olson, if you are reading this, I was wondering what the criteria for this business project is?  Do we really have to to make product out of yarn or we can just DO WHATEVER WE WANT? Holly god, please please let us make our product out of whatever we want. PLZ PLZ. I mean, all of this money is going toward the charities, right? So why not let us choose our own product instead of making it out of the knitting thingy? To be honest, I don't think scarves and hats or gloves are gonna sell very high due to the epic weather we are having right now. I think people might even get scared if they see scarves...might remind them of the hot weather we are having right now.

Anyway, Mr. Olson, if you are reading this, please respond as soon as possible! The future of all the companies rely on the criteria!!! :oO

The Baking Sun

Arrgghghghhgh I can't believe how hot it is outside. I just came back from my tutoring client's house. When I left it was 9:30 ish and it was like epicly hot outside. What is wrong with the weather? Global warming perhaps? And oh, I heard there was an earthquake on Vancouver Island. Not a big one, about 6.something ish? I don't want an earthquake to happend on Vancouver the mainland...it would be freaky.

I have so many things to do today! I had tutor this morning, then later I have to practice piano. This afternoon I have theory and that's gonna take 2 hours. I still have to come up with ideas for our company's product...

Friday, September 9, 2011

CEO?

Gahahhahah for Applied Skills I can't believe I am the CEO for the Big Profit Company! I know it was a random draw from another class. But heck, I am excited to embrace this new title! Oh and the company is not gonna be named "Big Profit" anymore. My "employeeeeees"-----Carina, Celina, Jennica and Leslie are still working on that new company name. We are suppose to produce products by using the swifty knitting thingy. Anyway, we are gonna have a lot of work to do. But I am confident and I think we can nail this.

We went to Oakridge for the after school meeting. We actually walked the whole way there. It was so hot. I was thirsty and hungry so I took out all the money from my little wallet thingy and that made like a dollar and something. Celina and I bought two donuts and I bought a drink and we ate for a while. The food was soooo epicly awesome. We then got to the library and looked for some books. Celina and I looked for books but Carina and Leslie disappeared...it was really weird. Guess they couldn't find us and just left -.-

It's been a super busy day...I feel so tired right now. But I am still excited!

DAY 2

So today is Day 2 and I had homeroom first thing in the morning. Mr. Sale playing this brain twister game with us and that was really fun. After that I had PE with Mr. Lopez. We warmed up and had to do 3 laps. Sigh~~~ The good thing is that I didn't stop during the entire run! Vivian Chew was my running buddy and we just ran 3 laps without stopping. We are gonna be in the weight room next class and do some exercises.

After that I had photography. Mr. Olson gave us the alphabetical seating plan. There was like only 5 Synergy kids there: Me, Alex, Tony, Fiona and Andy. Anyways, Mr. Olson introduced us to several cameras. I don't have one of those really professional ones...I just have a regular camera which we bought last year (pretty new!) I guess I will just make another gmail account specifically for photography. I also have to make a new blogger account and a new google site. There's gonna be a lot of things going on for photography.

After lunch I had English with Mr. Hauck. I know him from Debate Club. Anyway, he took attendance, and when he called a name, the person with the name must say one interesting thing about him/herself. I talked about my Europe trip. The class went by surprising fast.

Last class I had science with Ms. Jay. THAT WAS THE MOST EPIC CLASS EVARRRRRR~~~We played fun games and it was absolutely amazing. First it was the "North Wind Blows" game. We all put our chairs in a circle. One person says "North Wind Blows-----if you are wearing shorts" then people who were wearing shorts needed to get up and switch to a different seat. There was ONE LESS seat so the person left over became the new north wind person. Hahhahhha. I was quick so I didn't get left over. The second game we got into teams of 4. We were suppose to make a human sculpture together. For example, if Ms. Jay says "One ear, two hands, one bum and one feet" then we need to get these parts touching the floor. There were so many hilarious scenes of people getting into awkward bending positions. Gahahahha.

Second day was awesome. Tomorrow I guess will be a pretty normal day except we still have to go to homerooms. :D

Wednesday, September 7, 2011

Day 1

For Day 1 I had homeroom first. We didn't really do anything for 45 minutes. First block was when things really started to get excited. I had Mr. Martin for socials for first block. Oh oh oh oh and I finally saw the new Synergy person------Celina! She is one of my friends from the grade 8 PE class! Yessssssssss. One more bud in Synergy. It was really fun. We did this clock schedule thing for partners and some questions. And then it was the 15 minute break. Enough time to make it to Mr. Olson's AP class. We had a new seating plan----or should I say the OLD seating plan? It was how we were seated when we first came into Synergy in grade 8! Everyone sat in alphabetical orders. Lol. I hope we can have another seating change like the one we did last year. Anyway, it was lunch time and I met Vivian C's little sister. We ate lunch together.

The third block I had math 9 Enriched with Mrs. Knott. She seems nice. We went over the class rules and stuff and just did some question. Then I had French with Ms. Todd. A little while after the bell I was called down for the school fees. Finally got my locker! But oh it wasn't my old locker... :'(

Overall I had a pretty good day. I am really excited for tomorrow's classes!

First Day of Schoooool

I was so excited when I got to school this morning. I met up with Leslie, Carina and a few other friends, but Vivian C. was missing! She was late because of a traffic jam. Anyways, I got the same home room with Mr. Sale as home room teacher. I also got my time table, my agenda and a bunch of other stuff. I got all my Synergy classes with Mr. Martin, Mr. Olson, Mr. Hauck and Ms. Jay. I have PE with Mr. Lopez (I found out that there will be a lot of Synergies in his PE class! Is that like Synergy PE?), Photography with Mr. Olson (two Olson classes!), French with Mr. Todd (I think it's Mr. Todd. I don't really know him/her so I am assuming it's Mr. Todd) and Math with Ms. Knott (Again, I don't really know about this teacher so it could be a he.But we will know soon enough)

I forgot about the school fee! Oh geez. If I had remembered and handed it in at the Cafeteria today I would've gotten my locker assigned. Oh well. I guess I will just have to hand it in tomorrow then.

That's it for today! Oh and the teachers are on the first phrase of a strike. I am kinda worried about my report cards and grades and stuff. I just hope nothing goes wrong here.

Monday, September 5, 2011

Oh Geez

I can't believe it's the end of our summer break already. I've done a lot of traveling in July, and plenty of other stuff such as piano and theory in August. Today I just finished the week-long piano tutoring for this little girl. From now on I will only tutor her once a week, every Saturday. That was my first formal job evarrrrrrr. *proud*.

Tomorrow is the first day of school. I can't wait to see all my friends. We are suppose to meet in front of Mr. Olson's room tomorrow and get our time tables.
